When dealing with school, sports, clubs, and more, it can be a lot, especially on teenagers. Around 70% of students quit sports by age 14 according to USA today. Factors leading to burnout, pressure, and overworking. So how can we handle all of this? And what are some tips students use?
One of the biggest tips may seem obvious, but still not many people use their time wisely. Time management is highly important. A student at lodi high school, who does sports, on the honor roll, is in many clubs, and even has a job, says “I use planners, calendars, and lists, to show me what I should do now and what I need to do later.” stated by sophomore Paige Robertson. Using resources to help her day be organized keeps her in check. This helps her manage all of her tasks, which might seem overwhelming.
Another student, Emma Mills, tells me “It’s very difficult keeping up with everything in school, and my sports, and even a social life, but reaching out for help is okay, and getting support from others is needed” Emma is in sports all year around, and keeps up on everything. Reaching out to others can help you tremendously. Asking for help might be challenging but leaning on others will take the load off your shoulders and allow you to focus on something that might be more important to you.
Some more tips can be, getting a good night’s sleep and eating nutritious meals to keep up on your own wellbeing. Taking it from people who are living the lives that overwhelm many of us, be organized, and start treating time like money will help you. Seeking help from others around you will help you. These lives that overwhelm us won’t become less busy, so find ways that help you feel less busy.
