Painting sets, bright lights, singing and dancing, these are all things involved with the annual fall musical at LHS. Auditions for the fall musical are coming up fast. The 2026-27 fall musical this year is White Christmas by Irving Berlin.
According to Erica Bardwell, the director of the show, it is about “two performers who team up with a sister act and travel to a Vermont inn, where they discover their former general is struggling to keep the place running.” It’s a feel good show to get the audience into the Christmas spirit. In fact, Ms. Bardwell said, “It’s a story about friendship, generosity, and coming together during the holidays.” It’s a show to get everyone, cast, crew, and audience, in the holiday spirit, which Simon Morgan, an LHS freshman who’s planning to audition, say’s he’s excited for.
It’s a fairly old show. According to artofthetitle.com, the movie premiered on October 14, 1954. Simon Morgan said, “I didn’t know it was a movie or even a musical.” According to Ms. Bardwell, the show itself was chosen for it’s, “large, flexible cast, and strong ensemble moments,” and due to it being an older show, it contains a lot of dancing. Simon Morgan said he’s looking forward to the dance numbers.
Auditions include a short vocal selection, basic choreography, and for those who choose, reading from the script. Ms. Bardwell says “We keep the environment supportive and low-pressure.” Everyone auditioning has to sing “White Christmas” and is the same on both the soprano/alto and tenor/bass audition materials. Auditions are on Tuesday, May 26 and Thursday, May 28. Everyone who auditions gets cast, so Ms. Bardwell says, “don’t let the audition scare you away from doing something fun next fall!”
