Valentine’s Day means many things to many people. Today we are going to talk about the varying opinions on this holiday. We asked two of our students at LHS, Aubrey Lord and Liv Hocking, some questions on their opinion of this holiday, let’s get into those responses.
The first question we asked was what Valentine’s day means to them, and if they think that it’s overrated or underrated. Aubrey said, “I think it’s overrated, it’s just another excuse to buy flowers and gifts,” where Liv had a different opinion. She said, “Underrated, you should celebrate everyone you love. Single people think it’s only about couples, but it’s not.” Then we decided to ask Aubrey if she thinks that it should be a friends and family holiday too and she responded with, “No, I think it should just stay a couple thing.” This is showing us two very different perspectives while both of them are valid.
Next, we asked what their ideal way to spend valentines day would be. Aubrey prefers a day of relaxing at home, watching TV with her mom while Liv would prefer to go on a date with her significant other and if she was single she would want to go out with her parents. Again, their answers differ but they are both very realistic and valid. Another way many teens celebrate this holiday is by posting pictures of their significant other or someone they love. This little thing makes many people feel appreciated and seen.
Finally, we asked the ultimate question, what are the best valentines day gifts to receive? Now these responses were the most similar yet. Aubrey responded with “Definitely the big Costco teddy bears and heart shaped chocolates. Also a handwritten letter would be amazing,” Liv agreed and said, “I would love some food and chocolate, also something sentimental is sweet,” we couldn’t agree more.
Well thats a wrap on this Heart-to-Heart interview all about Valentines day. Today we got two different points of view and their reasoning on this holiday. With all love, Happy Valentine’s Day.
