The high school dance team brought energy and excitement to every basketball game and wrestling meet they performed at. With their precision, creativity, and school spirit, they add a special touch to these events, energizing the crowd and showing their dedication to the sport. Each routine was a reflection of their hard work, teamwork, and passion for dance. We interviewed some of the dance team members to get their insight on this past season.
This year was the first time that the dance performed for both basketball games and wrestling meets. They also had a new coach this year, Tiffany Houdek, who strived to make the routines they performed look as good as possible. There is so much that goes into these routines that most people don’t even realize. Captain Maya Houdek stated, “There’s a lot of things to think about, cutting music, choreography, matching it up, and making it look good.” There were also 10 different routines that were performed this season that the dances put their all into. There was a variety of dance styles incorporated such as hip hop, jazz, and even kicklines. This amount of performances was extremely impressive, especially under a brand new coach.
The dances would also sometimes perform multiple different routines on the same day. This pushed the dances to pick up choreography and be able to switch styles depending on the type of routine that they were performing. It was very fun for the dancers to be able to show multiple dances to the community and get to show off all their hard work. Sophomore, Keira Cartwright, said “My favorite highlight would be rock the gym where we performed 3 completely different routines.” The opportunity to be able to perform all these routines was very rewarding for the dances and it made it fun for the community to watch them excel.
Throughout the season, the dancers formed a very close bond with each other, making it very easy for them to work together to perform exciting routines. Although there were quite a few girls on the team, they are always looking to expand to add more members to be able to share their love of dance with each other. Sophomore, Ellie fahey, announced “ If you are at all interested in going out for the dance team, you should. It’s a fun group of girls who have amazing team work, and we would love to have you!” If you have a love for dance or you just want to try something new, give the dance team a try!
To wrap it up, the high school dance team brought their talent, teamwork, and energy to every event this season. Led by Coach Tiffany Houdek, they kept the crowd engaged with a variety of routines at basketball games and wrestling meets. Their passion and dedication were clear in every performance. As the team continues to grow, they’re always open to new members and eager to share their love for dance. The dance team has become a vital part of school spirit, and their future is definitely looking bright.
