The student section at our high school football games buzzes with energy and school spirit. It’s the place where students unite to cheer on our teams, creating an electric atmosphere that can be felt throughout the stadium. During games, the cheerleaders often lead the student section in chants, making everyone feel like they’re part of the action. Whether it’s cheering for your grade in battle cry or cheering with everyone, the student section plays a crucial role in boosting the teams’ morale.
The student section loves being a part of the cheers and interacting with the cheerleaders. Some crowd favorites are milk, truckin’, and bananas, all of these cheers interact with the student section as they involve having a partner.Some cheers however, have not had the best impact on the student section. Lodi High School Vice Principal, Jason Marshall, says that one of our crowd cheers is having a negative effect instead of positive. “ I think battle cry is a really cool cheer but because every grade boos the other grades, all you ever hear are boos, so you sorta miss the battle cry, and I think that’s a missed opportunity for our student section.” There is definitely some room for improvement in our etiquette that could be worked on for future games. With that being said, please do your best to keep everything positive in our student section and work to best represent Lodi Pride.
Along with positive cheering, make sure you are cheering in general! The student section is a great place to cheer on your High School sport teams. It is really important that when you are in that section, you are cheering your loudest for the games and participating in the cheers. Lodi High School Student, Jaylin Breunig, states “Now that it’s my turn to be in the student section, I take pride in being in it, even as an underclassman. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the front, back, or in the band, you can always cheer loudly and represent your grade and our school.” Cheering loudly in the student section also adds extra encouragement to the team and allows for the people around you to also start cheering loudly. It is recommended that if you do not want to cheer along with the other fans, that you do not sit in the student section.
The people who are leading all the cheers this year are the Lodi High School Cheerleaders. They have a variety of cheers that are utilized throughout the game to keep the student section hype and energetic. They do many different things with the student section such as leading interactive cheers in the 4th quarter, or putting up stunts for people to see during some of the cheers, and even cheers that interact with the band and the parents. New cheers are even added every year that the student loves to learn and do with the cheerleaders. The cheerleaders love when the section makes an effort to learn the new cheers. Lodi HIgh School Cheerleader, Ana Strong, mentions “I really like that when we add the new cheers, everyone is working really hard to learn the cheers because it makes the atmosphere really great and fun.” The student section definitely creates that fun atmosphere for all of the Lodi fans and students which makes our student section so great and fun to be in.
The student section is a vibrant place to connect with our school sports teams and support the hard working athletes. It enhances the experience of cheering with fellow fans and sharing the excitement at LHS games. Come to the games and show your support by being loud and proud!
