As Homecoming started, everybody was more than ready for the coming week. As the week got closer, the excitement for the upcoming events increased. The week started off strong with a classic pajama day.
The week started off with a classic, pajama day. “I can tell you, from the teacher’s perspective, Mondays as a pajama day is awesome,” said Social Studies teacher, Mr. Kittleson. Pajama days are a classic dress-up day. Being comfortable at school is something most students like. Do you know what other dress-up days are a classic? Student-Teacher swap day.
Tuesday was the Student-Teacher swap day. It was interesting to see how the students dressed to replicate the teachers. The teachers’ impressions of the students were almost perfect. Some of the teachers wore hoodies, jeans, and boots while others wore something with socks and sandals. Class T-shirts were also handed out that day, to be used for the next spirit day. Each class had a different color, for instance, The Freshman’s shirts were orange and the Seniors’ shirts were black.
Wednesday was Class T-shirt Day/Jersey Day. Wednesday was also the powderpuff game. The Powderpuff Game is a way for the girls in the school to show off their athletic abilities and for the whole school to have some fun. “I think that Powder Puff is a great way for girls in our school district to play and watch some form of sport that our schools don’t let them play. It’s great for people to come together and enjoy playing an awesome sport,” said Freshman class officer, Aiden Zitani. The winners of the Powder Puff were the Juniors, who went back to back as championships.
Thursday’s dress-up day was Throwback Thursday. The teachers nailed it. They must have had lots of experience with that sort of thing. Some students wore old letter jackets or old FFA jackets. Others went for a more decade-themed outfit. The teachers had the most on-point. For instance, some teachers wore 90s-themed outfits or went with different decade-themed outfits.
Friday was Lodi Pride Day. Everyone wore clothes that signified Lodi Pride. The High School also did Career and Service Day. The careers ranged from the military to hairstylist, from sports videographers to welders. The service part of the day is when everyone from freshmen to Seniors chooses a class with a career that they are interested in. There were options like painting a gazebo for Reach Out Lodi or working with the elementary schoolers. After the service part of the day, we had a whole school pep rally. The pep rally consisted of dodgeball games between the grades and teachers and a representation of our fall sports for this season. That night, we had the homecoming football game. It was the Lodi Blue Devils against the Clinton Cougars. The score was 35-0, making it an exciting and fun game to watch and be at. It was one of the best ways to end the week.
The homecoming dance’s theme was disco. “I really like the disco theme. I think it’s very fun. It’s definitely new. And I feel there’s definitely a lot of good ideas that can come along with the theme.” stated Arrow Schilling. The disco theme
is a great way to dress up in lots of fun and unique ways. The dance was an exciting and exhilarating experience. Students were able to have fun and show school spirit while having fun. As the night came to an end, it marked the end of a memorable homecoming week.
