In today’s world, we can travel in so many ways. Whether that be by train, bus, or even car. Most get around via my car. Most Americans prefer cars to get around because it’s very personal: I get to go where I want, and when I want. Cars can be viewed as art because the curves and paints that go into them are fascinating.
But what do students of Lodi think about transportation? Junior Talan Tamura shared his opinions.
“I probably would have to say like taxi or like Uber drivers,” Tamura said. “The reason why I say Uber is because, have you seen all the stories online where it’s trying to scam Uber drivers and everything that has been done to Uber drivers, recruit like, ‘Oh, no.’ I would just probably say stick with taxis.”
He added, “If anything. Uber isn’t much of a reliable source when it comes to transportation. You can find some very shady people out there. I can say that much.”
Transportation can be very dangerous. This has been proven multiple times and will continue to do so. Car crashes are always growing in numbers. Plus environmental damage alongside. This is why many people group in buses or trains. To lower these factors, people even use slower and cheaper methods such as biking. Would you bike to school and back?
Senior Dylan Biese discussed these problems: “I think we should travel around in beans, like a magnet train in a tunnel, but instead, a bean.”
Dylan is very much into beans (that or he was just hungry), but he has a point. Most countries even the U.S. have implemented bean-like trains that travel on magnets from point to point. They travel faster than your everyday car or bus and don’t cause gas emissions.
Transportation is flawed today. But who knows what transportation will bring tomorrow?
