As Visual Arts Classic comes to a close, we look back on the eventful season, with the theme for 2022-2023 being art and texture! Getting to know our wonderful team a bit better, the LHS Visual Arts Classic team consists of around 16 people, including our alternates. During regionals at Mauston High School, our team presented the long-term projects they’ve been working hard on with a beautiful display of sculptures, paintings, pencil drawings, and more! While at regionals, the VAC team took a big win by getting first place in the quizbowl and first place overall, earning a spot at state!

Keleigh Bannach, a freshman and alternate on our VAC team, stated, “Definitely the quiz bowl because we won.” When asked about her favorite part of regionals. While preparing for state, our team expanded with new students tagging along as alternates. An interview with one of the newer alternates (who requested to remain anonymous) commented, “I’m pretty excited for state!” At state, our team traveled to UW-Madison to compete, with a crowded campus and rooms filled with talented students in all types of mediums. Lodi pushed through, and although we didn’t place in the top three overall, many members of our team placed first and second for their on-site projects.

When asked about what she thought of State and her first year at VAC, Bannach replied, “I liked looking at the really cool stairwell with all the drawings on it and going on State Street.” “It was really fun, and I definitely plan on actually being on the team next year.” Our VAC team has had a juicy season, and with next years theme being art and color, our team is looking forward to whats ahead!
